Even The Pink Kit Name Is A Birth Story
The Pink Kit was launched in 2001 at a national childbirth conference in another country from New Zealand which is the home of Common Knowledge Trust.

Childbirth educators in that country were alarmed with the rise of Caesarean in their country. This concern is echoed in many countries, even New Zealand where the rate is 30% WITH midwifery care!
Although the video (now a DVD) played non-stop at a trade table, few cbes came by the table. The original resource was being launched under a different name which the Board of Trustees was uncertain about. No one came to look.
Finally frustrated enough, the person sitting at the display table approached a childbirth educator and asked if they had looked at the video and kit. She said ' You mean that pink kit over there?' No, she hadn't. But that wasn't important ... a light-bulb moment ...we had the name ... easy to remember and what does it mean?
Now we have families world wide who call themselves Pink Kit families. They call their babies ... Pink Kit babies.

Second name change 2010
Over the years many thousands of families now call themselves Pink Kit families. Or you'll hear a dad say 'Our son/daughter is a Pink Kit baby'. Doesn't it roll smoothly off the tongue?
Some day we'll make Tee shirts saying: 'I'm a Pink Kit baby'.
At the same time many pregnant families have said: 'What The Pink Kit?' Common Knowledge Trust owns the International Trademark to The Pink Kit Method For Birthing Better®. Certainly after the conference in 2001, The Pink Kit stuck but when people refer to this childbirth method as The Pink Kit others don't have a clue what it's about.
In fact many Pink Kit families said the childbirth skills they learned really did help them birth better and that's the goal.
So in 2010 we flipped the name around. We're now referring to this system as Birthing Better with The Pink Kit Method®. This means expectant moms and fathers-to-be know the Pink Kit Package is all about Birthing Better.
But, of course, nothing is simple in a name. Families stick to being a Pink Kit family and don't tend to say 'we're a birthing better family'. That doesn't roll off the tongue.
So if you're confused, don't be. Whether you come to us knowing about The Pink Kit or through Birthing Better, the resource is still The Pink Kit Package and as expectant parents you're still going to know how to Birth Better with The Pink Kit Method®.
