Seven Children +

After giving birth to seven children I still had a fear of birth, hence the reason my husband and I purchased the Pink Kit Package. Working through this resource was an eye opener for both of us. I came to a clearer understanding of my body's responses and what actually happens to me during labour. My husband learned what he could do for me, to look for signs without me having to tell hm what was happening. Going through the resource had an incredible result. I felt in complete control and the fear had all but disappeared. I knew that I could cope with whatever happend and my husband, for the first time, felt a real part of the labour side of things. Unfortunately I got severe food poisoning and had to have an emergency c/s. But we used the skills anyway and we experienced the value of what we had learned. When talking about the birth afterward with my husband, he said that he felt he had so benefited from the resource and would never have thought a woman having a non-labouring c/s could use skills much less skills he could use. We never considered that we would have anything but a straightforward birth so when things didn't pan out we remained in control and skilled. We feel everyone will benefit from this incredible resource. I only wish I had known about it seven children ago.

More skilled couples

I always feel really positive when my clients go into labour having prepared their body using The Pink Kit Package. I know they've put in a lot of work for their birth and will be willing to work hard in labour. It certainly makes a huge difference to both the labours and outcomes. The couples are much more empowered ... a very overused word ... but seeing the woman and her birthing partner work together so beautifully one cannot help thinking 'wow' that's empowerment! Labour is approached with confidence and a working knowledge of how to work with the change in contractions throughout. The birthing room is always more upbeat and somehow I always feel more relaxed by being around these very skilled families. This is what I hoped would happen in births when I became a midwife 20 years ago but it's only been since families have self-learned the pink kit skills that I've truly experienced these pleasurable births. These skilled families do not require me to be their guide or birth support. Seeing a woman in labour is always a moving experience but seeing a couple working together to birth their baby is truly awesome.

Nothing can prepare you for the pain of labour

Knowing what's about to happen to your body and learning the skills that can help the pain of the contractions makes the pain bearable. The Pink Kit Package gave me and my husband the confidence to have a home birth. The resource taught us what was about to happen to my body during labour, so I was prepared and not taken by surprise. My husband loved the resource and learned so much about my body. he was able to help me all the way through labour and directed me when I got side-tracked. The internal work helped me learn about the 'inside' of my body and I'm sure helped my vagina open ore easily while giving birth. My husband took an active role throughout and helped me with the exercises that brought the baby down faster. I feel by experiencing a good birth, helped me cope better afterward. We were both very pleased with how the labour process went and I would recommend this product to every birthing couple.

Pink Kit Birth Story from 1980

When Common Knowledge Trust contacted me to put our birth story on their new website I immediately said: 'yes'. The skills in what now has become known as Birthing Better with The Pink Kit Method® has been around for many years but only a lucky few of us had access to the skills before CKT was able to produce public resources. The first thing that I have to say is that these skills totally involved my partner and that was so important to both of us. As a result our daughter is a relaxed and happy baby with relaxed and happy parents. There is no doubt the three of us worked as a team during her birth and continue to today. I feel this information is essential and should be used by all expecting parents so they can use these skills in whatever birth they have. I also firmly believe that with the wide spread use of these skills the number of medically assisted births will decrease and more women and men will have the confidence to birth in their own environment instead of the hospital. However, if I had had to birth in hospital we still would have had the incredible birth we did have ... even if we had tons of interventions. The package teaches you that using your skills is a 'choice' you make as a way to work with your baby's birthing journey and that's something my husband and I would have 'chosen' to do under any circumstance. My daughter has recently given birth and they are pink kit parents as well. We're on to the next generation.

Pink Kit Birth ... 2003

My husband and I got the pink kit in november 2002. Our son was born in january. I was fortunate to have a vaginal birth after a 10 hour labour. I am fairly certain that without the skills gained from the pink kit package that I would have wanted an epidural and had a much longer labour. I can go back and imagine how I would have behaved without these skills. I can certainly go back and imagine how I would have behaved had my husband not had his skills as well! We were a great team and this has only grown in our partnership relationship since. My second stage of pushing (and I was a first time mum) was only 18 minutes long. This was due to the 'internal work' ... preparing inside my vagina which I began eight weeks before my due date and learned in the package. The 'Directed Breathing' skills learned and practiced helped me control my reaction to pain for much longer than I otherwise would have managed. The package helped my husband to learn skills that he knew would help me. This gave him confidence in his role. he was able to assist me with a few of the skills we used like the 'sit-bone spread' and 'hip lift' along with 'modeling the breathing' and 'deep touch relaxation'. Overall the package gave me confidence for giving birth. Can't say enough about these skills. Every first time mum and dad should get this resource and take their learning seriously. The skills work!
