No, childbirth education, that is, childbirth preparation is not failing ... but something isn't right in childbirth at the moment.
As a CBE or childbirth educator, you are fulfilling the task set to you ... encourage Birth Plans by giving expectant families a vast amount of information so they can make 'informed choices.'
Now mothers-to-be and fathers-to-be need to write a second Birth Plan. It's no longer sufficient for pregnant families to merely ask for what they want or don't want. Now dads-to-be and moms-to-be need to tell their birth professional how they are preparing their pregnant body to becoming a birthing body and what childbirth and birth coaching skills they will use.
